National Magazine Award Nomination

National Magazine Award Nomination

I’m honoured to be nominated for a Canadian National Magazine Award this year, alongside photographer Maude Chavin and our editor Laura Osborne.

The story we got the nod for was “Canada’s Best New Restaurants" for Air Canada’s in-fight magazine enRoute. It comes at an odd and wrenching time for restaurants, most of them shuttered now due to the Covid-19 pandemic. How many of the 40 or so restaurants across Canada that I visited will survive this forced hiatus? I fear for the future of the industry here and around the globe.

The awards ceremony itself will be a virtual one this year, like pretty much everything else that involves gathering a group together. Still I’m grateful to be placed in the company of such talented journalists and as ever, eager to take on new writing challenges.
